About the museum

The brick manor house in Snina was begun in 1780 by Countess Terézia Vandernátová, but it was completed only by Jozef Roll, who bought it in 1800 and turned it into a representative family seat. Later other owners followed, among them the Belgian prince Filip Eugen Koburg and the Očkay family (Očkayovci). The Town of Snina became the owner of the manor on 27 October 2009; the comprehensive restoration of this national cultural monument began in November 2011, and on 5 July 2013 it was ceremonially opened to the public.

The town library is also housed in the building today. The building is operated by the Mestské kultúrne a osvetové stredisko Snina (Snina Town Cultural and Educational Centre).
