About the museum
The Etnološki muzej Mošnje (Mošnje Ethnological Museum) arose as an amateur collection of the villagers, and the exhibition was prepared in cooperation with the Radovljica Municipal Museums. It stands in an old house opposite the church of St Andrew in Mošnje. The museum is run by the Turistično društvo Mošnje (Mošnje Tourist Society).
The collection contains objects from the everyday life of the former residents of the village: earthenware kitchen vessels in a wooden dresser, a farmhouse stove, a large carved wooden chest, sewing machines and other equipment of a farm housewife. In the room dedicated to the church there are old priestly vestments, church vessels, books, paintings and nativity figures made of fired clay.
The variety of life in Mošnje is also evident in the objects in the larger room and in a former farm building: old equipment of the Mošnje firefighters, equipment of an old school, a shoemaker’s workshop, and farm tools and machines. On a visit, the locals gladly show visitors the interior of the church of St Andrew, which is regarded as one of the oldest in the area.
