About the museum
Fužina Germovka (Germovka Ironworks) in Paradiž, Tržič, is one of the oldest ironworks in Tržič. The building, with its rough walls and roof structure, its smithy hearth and its grinding works, has kept the appearance of the former forge. The Tržiški muzej (Tržič Museum) acquired it as early as the 1950s, when it was founded as a museum.
Today the ironworks houses the permanent interactive exhibition Kovano v Paradižu (Forged in Paradiž). Visitors learn what and how they once forged, how a product was made from iron ore, and what the density of different metals is. The exhibition in two rooms is complemented by a spatial installation by Matej Andraž Vogrinčič and illustrations by Tinka Mesec Tomazin. The grinding unit and the water wheel have been restored.
