About the museum
The Lectar house has stood on the square of medieval Radovljica for more than five hundred years. In 1766 Jakob Krivic opened a lect workshop and gingerbread bakery in it, and in 1822 the owners also opened an inn, which after the trade was named Pri Lectarju. The lect trade later died out in the house, and only the inn and the name were preserved. In 2006 the owners re-equipped the workshop.
In the Muzej starih slovenskih obrti visitors can see the original process of making lect, the tools and the old equipment for baking and decorating, and on display are lect products several decades old. Traditional gingerbread in the shape of a red heart and other forms is still made in the house today.
In the workshop visitors can also make their own lect heart under guidance, but prior registration is required. Products can be bought or ordered with a personal inscription.
