About the museum
For many years the Osnovna šola Stična (Stična Primary School) has devoted great attention to collecting and preserving school books, exercise books and teaching aids that earlier generations once used in lessons, as well as in various extracurricular activities. In 1995 the first "old classroom" was created at Muljava, which takes visitors back to a time without the internet and central heating. The history teachers at the parent school, the then headmistress and other staff members are chiefly responsible for building the collection.
The school museum is housed in the cellar of the Podružnična šola Muljava (Muljava Branch School). After the building was destroyed by fire in 1942, it was restored and solemnly reopened on 26 October 1947. The museum can be visited only by prior arrangement.
