About the museum
The Museo de la Huerta in Rojales occupies the former Llanos estate, also known as the Hacienda de Don Florencio, an agricultural holding of about 30,500 m² on the road between Rojales and Guardamar del Segura. The site has been fitted out as a museum to show how traditional work in the huerta (irrigated market-garden land) was carried out.
The visit covers the estate's original buildings and their utensils, together with objects donated by residents of the municipality. The pieces cover all aspects of rural life, from the home to cultivation, including traditional means of transport, saddlery and farm tools. The collection continues to grow thanks to donations. The irrigated lands around the museum, with their irrigation channels (acequias), are part of the route and explain the history of local agriculture.
