About the museum
The museum occupies the residence that the Baron de Benifayó, Julio Falcó d’Adda, commissioned in 1878 from the architect Lorenzo Álvarez Capra. It is an eclectic building with the look of a small fortress, with towers, popularly known as the Casa de la Rusa (House of the Russian Woman). Today it is the seat of the municipal museum.
The rooms are devoted to the archaeology and ethnography of San Pedro del Pinatar: fossils from the area, pieces from underwater excavations, Roman remains from the villa of La Raya and tools used by workers and fishermen. There are also collections of antique toys and cinema material, and a room furnished with pieces of the period that shows the world of the baron.
The palace also has a room for temporary exhibitions and is used for book presentations, talks and other cultural activities.
