About the museum
The company Wasabröd was founded in 1919 in Skellefteå by baker Karl Edvard Lundström and moved to Filipstad in 1931. In the 1930s Wasabröd became a royal court supplier, and the crispbread was decorated with a portrait of Gustav Vasa. The Lundström family sold the company in 1982 to the Swiss group Sandoz, which in 1999 sold it on to the Italian Barilla Group.
The factory in Filipstad is still in operation and bakes crispbread, with an annual production of around 33,000 tonnes. Next to the factory is the factory shop, where Wasa and Barilla products can be bought, and the company's history is presented in the shop. According to a visitor guide, it is the country's only crispbread museum.
