About the museum
Brevik hembygdsgård in Nykroppa in Filipstad municipality is run by Kroppa hembygdsförening (local heritage society) and reflects life in the ironworks community in the 1800s and early 1900s. The farm has preserved outbuildings and residential houses from the ironworks era, and the buildings are filled with tools, textiles and everyday objects that tell how people lived, worked and celebrated in the past.
The society regularly organises events and viewings at the farm. Midsummer celebrations are an established tradition, with the raising of the midsummer pole and ring dancing, and autumn markets and other traditional festivals are also held here. Guides can take visitors through the farm's history and stories.
Kroppa hembygdsförening also looks after Hornkullens Silvergruva (Hornkullen silver mine) in Nykroppa and works on a voluntary basis to preserve the district's cultural heritage from the ironworks era. Brevik hembygdsgård can be hired for weddings, parties and corporate events.
