About the museum
Bruzaholms bruksmuseum grew out of a study circle started in 1986 to explore the history of the works village and the people who lived and worked around the works. The museum opened in 1993 on the upper floor of the old school and moved to its present premises in 2008. In the same year the independent association that runs the museum today was formed.
Bruzaholms bruk was founded in 1660 and is the oldest company in the locality and one of Sweden’s oldest ironworks still in operation. The main exhibition follows the works from 1660 to today’s production and shows, among other things, cast-iron stoves, pots and the well-known ram pump, together with older photographs and newspaper cuttings.
Visitors can also walk around the old and still active works environment, with the smithy, older workers’ housing and the manor house from 1785. In one of the workers’ dwellings there is a furnished flat. The museum’s reading room holds documentation, personal archives, pictures and newspaper cuttings for anyone who wants to research the history of the district.
