About the museum
Havsdrakarnas Hus is located in the Skånetrafiken waiting room at Bromölla railway station and shows finds from the Chalk Sea (Krithavet), which covered this part of Skåne about 80 million years ago. The display cases contain, among other things, shark teeth, parts of cephalopods, oysters, crocodile teeth and sea urchins found in the area.
The exhibition covers about 70 square metres and is run in cooperation between Bromölla Municipality, Fossilforum, Wetlandi, Iföverkens industrimuseum (the Ifö Works industrial museum) and the association Humleslingan. Fossilforum, run by the fossil guide Filip Lindgren, also organises guided fossil hunts.
From the house, visitors travel by their own car to Åsen field station, a few kilometres outside Bromölla. There, under the guidance of a guide, fossil-bearing sand is washed and visitors may keep what they find. The field station is only accessible with a guide or by arrangement.
