About the museum
Nymölla kvarn (mill) lies by the Skräbeån river, about three kilometres south of Bromölla. The Skräbeån was used for water mills as early as the Middle Ages. Nymölla kvarn is first mentioned in 1624 but is probably considerably older. The village of Nymölla is named after the mill.
Milling ceased when the pulp mill was built beside it; the last milling took place in 1960. A fire in 1969 destroyed large parts of the mill, which was then restored to its original condition by Skräbeåns Mölleförening (Skräbeån Mill Association).
The mill is still functional, and the flour that is occasionally ground is sold at a few local markets in the area. It can be visited on Mill Day (Möllornas dag), the first Sunday in July, and at other times by arrangement.
