About the museum
Sölvesborgs museum is centrally located in Sölvesborg, near the harbor and the town centre, in a store for grain and spirits that is about 150 years old. The building has been a museum since 1982.
In the vaulted ground-floor rooms, visitors can follow the history of Lister through many archaeological finds, mainly from the Stone Age. Excavation finds from Sölvesborg Castle and from the Carmelite monastery hold a central place in the collections.
On the upper floor there is a kaleidoscopic exhibition on the cultural history of the town and of Lister. The museum also has a garden with room for a coffee break.
