About the museum
The local history museum is housed in Hjärtum parish hall. The house was once part of the old farm Billegården, which Inland Torpe hundred (härad, today Lilla Edet Municipality) bought and converted into an old people’s home. When the old people’s home Pilgården was built in Ström in 1956, the pensioners moved there.
The local heritage society has set up the museum on the upper floor. Many old things have been collected by the society, things that people in the district no longer wanted when times became modern. Thanks to the donated objects the society has created unique settings, including a schoolroom, a croft kitchen and the fittings of a shop.
