About the museum
Innovatum Science Center is located on the Innovatum site in Trollhättan, in a large former industrial building by the locks (slussarna). The activity is part of Innovatum Science Park, run by the Innovatum Foundation. The foundation was established 25 years ago by the City of Trollhättan, Västra Götaland Region, Saab Automobile, Volvo Aero, Vattenfall, Skanska and the trade union Industrifacket Metall Norra Älvsborg.
The science centre aims to increase interest in and understanding of technology, natural science and the changes in industrial society by bringing people and technology, theory and practice, history and the future together. Across 4,200 square metres there are interactive stations, creative play areas and experiments, and visitors can either try things out themselves or stroll around at their own pace and take in information and history.
The exhibitions are divided into people, the earth and space. Themes include sustainability, life science and space. Around 80,000 visitors come each year. In the same area are the Saab Car Museum and the NOHAB smithy, and Innovatum also has a cultural heritage collection with a picture archive.
