Nohab Diesels Vänner

About the museum

Nohab Diesels Vänner (Friends of Nohab Diesel) is an association for members and supporting members who are interested in the diesel engines from Nohab in Trollhättan. The association has its premises in the old Nohab foundry from 1886 at Åkersbergsvägen, next to Olidan power station. The premises are about 280 square metres and serve as a workshop, museum and meeting place.

The association has acquired nine diesel engines from Nohab, which members assemble and run, and the engines are shown at various events. In parallel a museum exhibition is being built up, including eleven display cases with objects from Nohab and a large exhibition of pictures with Nohab motifs. Sometimes one of the engines is started so that visitors can both see and hear it.

On Tuesday evenings the premises are open to visitors. Then there is coffee and cake (fika), a walk-round with a guide, and the chance to talk with members who have themselves worked with the engines. The association also sells Nohab merchandise such as books, mugs and T-shirts.
