About the museum
Klöva mölla lies where the Klövabäcken stream, which rises at Traneröds mosse, reaches the ravine Klövahallar and forms a waterfall about 7 metres high. The site has been recorded as a mill site since 1674, when it belonged to Dragesholm manor. The mill burned down in 1877 and was rebuilt and back in operation in 1887.
In 1937 the old wooden paddle wheel, which had a diameter of 6 metres, was torn down and replaced by a turbine of 25 horsepower. The turbine can drive two pairs of millstones as well as a crusher and a hoist. As a backup power source during dry summers a hot-bulb engine was used, today a Beijer of 25 horsepower from 1930.
The mill was used commercially until the mid-1960s. After about 30 years of standstill the wheels began turning again in 1997, after extensive restoration of the turbine, the turbine chamber, the millstones and the ringkar. The mill is included in the list of mills kept by the association Skånska möllor (Skåne Mills).
