About the museum

Knislinge hembygdsförening (local heritage association) was formed in 1933 and celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2013. The association has its premises in Klockaregården, opposite Knislinge church. The farm consists of a dwelling house with origins in the 1700s and an outbuilding that was ravaged by fire in October 2000 but has since been rebuilt.

In the upper floor of the stable, objects used in the parishes of Knislinge, Kviinge and Gryt are shown. On the ground floor is the industrial museum, with objects from the shoe factory that started in Knislinge in 1898 and closed in the 1970s, and from the Knislinge stocking factory and its brand Anitastrumpan.

In the old brew house there is a small school museum, and on the upper floor a collection of older tools is shown. The museums have come about through donations from private individuals, companies and associations. The house also has a meeting room with a kitchenette.
