About the museum
The school museum is in Nysätra's old småskola (elementary school for younger children), built in 1851 next to Nysätra church. One half of the house was a classroom and changing room, the other half a teacher's residence. The museum came about thanks to headmaster Rudolf Bergvall, who was commissioned to collect useful material when the new Örsundsbro school was taken into use in 1963 and several schools in the ten parishes of Lagunda were closed.
The idea of setting up a museum in Nysätra småskola was born, and on 28 May 1976 the school museum was inaugurated. Lagunda hembygdsförening (Lagunda Local Heritage Society), formed in 1972, is responsible for care and guiding. The association also runs the trade and maritime museum Kappen in Örsundsbro.
The museum is shown on guided tours in summer.
