About the museum

Teleseum looks after and shows the technical heritage of the communications systems of the armed forces and of total defence (totalförsvaret), with a particular focus on the Cold War. The foundation is the objects collected by Försvarets historiska telesamlingar (the Defence Historical Telecommunications Collections), a collection that began in the 1970s and was transferred to Teleseum at the beginning of the 21st century. The museum is run by Teleseum AB, which was formed in 2010, and has also taken over objects from the Garnisonsmuseet i Enköping (Enköping Garrison Museum).

The collections range from individual objects to entire communications, command and combat-control systems from the army, navy and air force, as well as objects and environments from the civilian part of total defence. Here there are, among other things, field telephones, telephone exchanges, radio-link and carrier-frequency equipment, cryptographic equipment and teleprinters, as well as radio stations and vehicles.

The museum aims to be an experience centre with a high degree of interactivity for visitors of all ages, and to cooperate closely with schools. It also preserves traditions from units such as Upplands regemente (Uppland Regiment), Göta livgarde (Göta Life Guards), Fälttelegrafkåren (the Field Telegraph Corps) and the Signaltrupperna (Signal Troops). Teleseum is part of the network Sveriges militärhistoriska arv (Sweden's Military Heritage), and the activities are largely carried out by volunteers. The new premises on Kvartsgatan were inaugurated on 30 May 2026.
