About the museum
Limhamns museum, also called Soldattorpet (the Soldier's Croft), is a local heritage museum at Limhamnsvägen 102 in Limhamn in Malmö. It is located in a croft cottage that was built in the early 1800s and that in the later part of the century was lived in by soldiers of the allotment system (indelta soldater).
The museum is run by Limhamns Museiförening (Limhamn Museum Association), which was formed in 1956. In 1959 the association was given by Malmö city the right to take over the care of Soldattorpet. Since the same year the association has published the annual Limhamniana.
The association preserves and shares the local history of Limhamn. The museum has an extensive picture collection, and the association arranges lectures, exhibitions and other activities in Soldattorpet and in Limhamn.
