About the museum

Lindgrens länga was originally a forester's croft, and the stable wing was added in the 1850s. In the 1920s the living part ceased to be used and was eventually demolished. In summer 1967 the croft was given new life as a set for the film about Bombi Bitt.

On the initiative of volunteers, the renovation of the wing began in 1986, and three years later it was inaugurated. Together with the Kristianstad county museum and the Institute for Cultural Research (Institutet för Kulturforskning), an exhibition on the nature and culture of Haväng was then built, and in 1993 Havängs outdoor museum was completed.

The exhibition in the wing explains how the landscape has developed since the Stone Age and how the proximity to the sea and to the Verkeån has shaped the district. It also shows plants and insects that thrive in the sandy, nutrient-poor environment. Belonging to the outdoor museum are also Stenörens ålabod (Stenören's eel shed) and Röda boden (the Red Shed), about 300 metres south of the mouth of the Verkeån. Havängs Museiförening (Haväng Museum Association) holds a Havängskväll (Haväng evening) by the wing in early July.
