About the museum

Lotsarkivet (the Pilot Archive) is run by Oxelösunds hembygdsförening (Oxelösund Local Heritage Society) and concerns the pilots who lived and worked in the archipelago outside Oxelösund and on Hävringe. The core of the collection is the writings of Anders Fröman, who was a descendant of pilots, together with the association's surveys, photographs, films and documents about the pilots' lives.

The activity is located in the Mästerlotsens skärgårdsrum (the Master Pilot's Archipelago Room) in Gamla Oxelösund, where there is a small exhibition and a study room. The study room offers local history, a picture archive, films and material for genealogy.

Nearby, a culture trail passes the pilots' homes, the pilot lookout (lotsutkiken) and Oxelö Krog, which is described as the oldest preserved pilot station.
