About the museum
Naturum Nationalparkernas hus is the visitor centre for Tyresta National Park in Tyresta village, two mil (Swedish miles) from central Stockholm. The national park was established in 1993 and is managed by Stiftelsen Tyrestaskogen (the Tyresta Forest Foundation). The building is designed as a map of Sweden, and the exhibition presents the country’s national parks from south to north.
In the naturum visitors can get suggestions for hiking trails and tips on what there is to see and do in the area. Outside the building there is an information square where visitors can learn more about Tyresta’s nature and values. The shop sells maps, souvenirs and literature about Tyresta and about nature and national parks in Sweden.
Naturum organises events throughout the year, for example walks and activities during all school holidays. School classes can book guided tours adapted to their year group, and the building houses Bio Borealis. Admission to naturum is free.
