About the museum
Oderljunga mölla was built in 1888–1889 by the merchant Olof Möller, who bought the waterfall rights for four water-driven grain mills upstream of the Bäljane å (Bäljane River) and obtained a fall height of about five metres. Nils Åkesson bought the mill in 1896, and it has since been owned by the Åkesson family. Commercial milling ceased in 1974; according to an older description, the mill can still be run during visits.
The family built up a museum in the old buildings so that the mill would not decay. There is, among other things, the old general store (lanthandel), which closed down in 1970, with objects from the district's school, fire brigade and savings bank. Much of the material has been donated by visitors. In a small model mill, spices can be ground for sale.
Perstorp Municipality describes the site as a general store museum with much more, and states that it is open by arrangement.
