About the museum
Risanäs skolmuseum (Risanäs School Museum) is in a folk school building where teaching began on 30 September 1854. The building housed a classroom and a teacher's residence. In 1887 the attic floor was converted into a craft room (slöjdsal), and teaching continued here until 1913, when the school moved to a newly built school building in Saxemara. The folk school was restored in 1954, and later extensions were removed.
The museum was established in the 1970s by Ronneby Municipality and is run voluntarily by Ronneby musei- och hembygdsförening (Ronneby Museum and Local Heritage Society). The collection consists of authentic school interiors and over a hundred school photographs.
