About the museum
Smögens hembygdsmuseum tells how the fisherman and his family lived in the past, when the sea was central to the people of Smögen. The museum consists of two parts run by Smögens Hembygdsförening (Smögen Local Heritage Society).
The fisherman’s cottage lies just above Smögenbryggan (the Smögen quay), and signs show the way. The cottage is preserved from the late 1800s with fittings, furniture and photographs, and shows how a fishing family lived. The boathouse museum is in an old boathouse on Smögenbryggan. There a large collection of older fishing gear is shown, along with equipment used for preparing fish and for cooperage, as well as the first echo sounder and the first navigation equipment.
