About the museum
Skegrie möllegård (mill farm) lies in the flat landscape north-west of Skegrie and comprises an earth Dutch-type windmill (jordholländare) from 1895, the miller's house from the 1860s and an outbuilding. The mill was built on the site of an older stub mill (stubbamölla) that burned down in 1895, and it is one of the few preserved mills of its type in Skåne. The milling machinery is largely intact and works.
Milling ceased in 1947, but the last miller, Henry Alm, lived on in the miller's house until the mid-1980s. He gave the mill to Skytts Härads Hembygdsförening (Skytts Härad local heritage society) in 1966, and the association also took over the house, the furnishings and the property through his will. The County Administrative Board (Länsstyrelsen) declared the mill and the mill farm a listed heritage site (byggnadsminne) in 2004.
In the miller's house the interior is preserved from the time when the last miller lived there, and part of the stable contains the interior of the Klörup village shop (Klörups lanthandel). The local heritage society has used the farm as a meeting place and arranges markets, café openings and viewings.
