About the museum

Sparreholm Castle lies in Sparreholm in Södermanland. The main building received its present appearance in the 1890s to drawings by the architect Johan August Westerberg. Today the castle is used for overnight stays, conferences and events, and there are several museums on the grounds.

The carriage museum shows about sixty carriages and sleighs together with harnesses and saddlery. The collection gives an impression of how people travelled by horse before the age of the car. On the castle grounds there is also a car museum.

At present the carriage museum can be seen by booked groups, while the car museum, the café and the shop have summer opening hours.

Getting there & parking

From road 53, turn off at Sparreholm; the Hästcentret (horse centre) is about 2 km outside Sparreholm, and the castle turn-off is about 100 metres further on. The castle advises entering Hyltinge church into the GPS.
