About the museum
Strykjärnsmuseum i Malmköping is a private technology museum founded in 2014 by Lars Ivarsson, and it has been described as Sweden's first museum of flat irons. Ivarsson has collected around 3,000 old irons, and around 1,500 of them, from 26 different countries, are on display in the museum.
The collection ranges from older pressing irons and sad irons (lodjärn) to children's and doll's irons, stove irons and travel irons. The museum is shown by arrangement with the owner. It may also be possible to get a visit if you are making a quick stop in Malmköping, by calling to find out whether he is at home.
In winter Lars Ivarsson also arranges iron curling (strykjärnscurling) on ice in the surrounding area, an event that can be booked.
