About the museum
The idea of a VVS museum was first raised in 1933 by the trade magazine Rörinstallatören. In the 1980s the VVS consultant Nils Erik Berggren took the initiative for a working group within the VVS-Tekniska föreningen, and in 1993 a smaller exhibition opened in Katrineholm. The following year the museum moved to larger premises.
The museum in Katrineholm closed in 2012, and parts of its collections ended up for a time in Läckeby, north of Kalmar. In December 2015 Sveriges VVS-museum moved to Bromma in Stockholm, where it was inaugurated on 20 May 2016.
Today the museum consists of an exhibition and conference facilities in premises of around 500 square metres on Archimedesvägen. Here the development of the VVS industry in Sweden – VVS stands for heating, ventilation and sanitation – is presented through exhibitions, guided tours and seminars. The museum is run mainly on a voluntary basis by the association Sveriges VVS-museum.
