About the museum
Tåsjö tourist association was formed in 1934 and reformed in 1944 as Tåsjö tourist and local heritage association, after Leonard Hagström had promised to donate land for a heritage farm. The area was donated in 1944, and the association looks after the district’s nature, culture and old working objects.
Buildings have been added to the site over the years. A härbre from 1791 was bought in 1945, the stream mill (bäckkvarn) from the early 1800s came in 1946, and the same year the main house from 1865 was moved there. Later a smithy, a båste, a dwelling cottage and a bakehouse with a serving room were added.
The main house is furnished in period style on the lower floor, while the upper floor is a museum with working objects from the district, including a musket from the time of Karl XII. According to the municipal visitor guide the collection comprises about 600 objects.
