About the museum
Vannslätten is a local heritage farm in Hallabro in Ronneby Municipality, north of Ronneby. The farm originally consisted of the homestead Västra Hallen 1:3 and was run by the local heritage association of the Backaryd-Öljehult parishes. The farm’s main building is a so-called framkammarstuga (front-chamber cottage) in log from the 1810s, and together with the farm buildings it is a good example of the building traditions of the 19th century.
Among the farm buildings there are a stable and a lodge built in skiftesverk (a traditional wall construction), and a henhouse from the 1920s. The farm is largely unaltered and reflects a typical Swedish farm setting of the mid-20th century. The house was lived in until 1991, and the interior comes largely from the 1950s.
The name Vannslätten has long continuity and appears on the Swedish Land Survey’s (Lantmäteriet) historical maps. According to information, it arose in the 18th century, when the site partly consisted of wetland. The local heritage farm is owned by Ronneby Municipality and is shown in summer.
