Manzoni, Verdi e le donne artefici del loro incontro

Documents on the only meeting between Manzoni and Verdi in 1868, costumes and designs for works inspired by “I promessi sposi” and by Verdi's works, letters on Manzoni's death and on the Requiem. The women who accompanied the two artists are also at the centre of the display.

In the Chiostri di Sant'Eustorgio, Artemisia Gentileschi's Annunciazione of 1630 is on display, a loan from the Museo di Capodimonte; it is the first known painting made by the artist in Napoli, and it is the “Capolavoro per Milano 2026”.
